Texas CLEC Deploys BridgeWave 10Gbps Wireless Radio System

BridgeWave Flex4G-10000 provides WireStar Networks with fiber speed connectivity, reliability, and availability

San Diego, CA – March 27, 2018 – BridgeWave Communications, a market leader in wireless backhaul systems, today announced that WireStar Networks, a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and primary Internet service provider (ISP), deployed the BridgeWave Flex4G-10000 80GHz system within days to extend its fiber network in College Station, Texas, home to Texas A&M University. The BridgeWave Flex4G-10000 system provides fiber speed connectivity, reliability, and availability to a new residential apartment complex in the city, at one-tenth of the cost to trench new fiber to the location.

“We had fiber a half-mile away from the site, but we had only a month to provide connectivity,” said Kyle Leissner, president and CEO of WireStar Networks. “Also, the terrain from our fiber to the site is rocky and hilly, so the cost estimate we received to extend our fiber was very expensive, and the time required to trench it wouldn’t meet the customer deadline. When we learned about the BridgeWave system, we were stunned that the price of the BridgeWave 10Gbps system was one-tenth of what we would have had to pay to trench the fiber run. The BridgeWave system provides us with fiber capacity and reliability, and it enabled us to extend our fiber network at far less cost and within several days, well ahead of schedule.”

BridgeWave multi-gigabit wireless backhaul systems increase backhaul network capacity without the hassles and costs of new or leased fiber to connect additional customers, under-served office and residential buildings, and community anchor institutions. The Flex4G-10000 millimeter wave (80GHz) radio system delivers fiber capacity, 256-bit AES encryption for highest data security, and the highest system gain to ensure maximum throughput at the longest distances. It offers all customers a much lower cost alternative to fiber.

“WireStar Networks’ selection of our Flex4G-10000 to extend its fiber network is a valuable endorsement of the solutions we offer our customers, and we are honored to be a part of their network,” said Pamela Valentine, vice president of marketing, BridgeWave Communications. “As demonstrated by WireStar, our innovative technology and experience enables customers to scale backhaul capacity affordably, quickly, and without trading off performance and reliability. The Flex4G-10000 is a prime example. Its impressive ROI over fiber and other wireless products in the market are driving its high demand from customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the US.”
